“My wife, I, and our dogs, try to get to MDI once or twice a year. A few weeks before we were set to visit at the end of May, our reservation fell through so we needed to find new accommodations. Luckily for us, the Command Post was available for our dates. It was our first time staying there and it worked out perfectly for us. The well-equipped cottage is perfect for two and was spotless when we arrived. The views across Somes Sound to Sargent Mountain are beyond beautiful and there was plenty of yard space to walk the dogs. I would also note that Hall Quarry is our favorite place to stay on MDI. The area is quiet, but you’re only twenty minutes to Bar Harbor and most places in Acadia. In addition, Southwest Harbor is five-ten minutes away. Our host Mimi was a pleasure to work and responded promptly to any questions. We definitely would rent the Command Post or other properties hosted by Mimi again!”

“I’ve stayed in different properties in the Hall Quarry area for many years but the Command Post was by far my favorite. The place was impeccable clean and well kept. So much attention was given to utilizing every inch of space and I really appreciated all the storage. The water views are spectacular and I loved waking up every morning to that view! There’s a full kitchen which is great if you want to stay in and cook. I loved having a washer & dryer as well. The cottage is well insulated with a propane fire place that kept the place cozy on the colder nights. All the furniture is very comfortable. I can’t think of a single amenity that I would have wanted that was not already provided. I didn’t get to meet Mimi personally, but she was always available by phone or email and was lovely to work with! I hope to come back someday but it’s so popular that it’s hard to get. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay!”

“The house was impeccable. The owners were great. The house is perfectly located, a short drive from every spot on the island. It is in a quiet area without the traffic and crowds of Bar Harbor, but centrally located so that you have easy access to get there. It is also allows you the option to explore some of the “less popular”, but still beautiful parts of Acadia. I would recommend this house to anyone heading that way. ”

“This place is spectacular! The views from the photos can not begin to capture how beautiful it really is. Maria has everything you could need, and the bed was so big and comfortable, and so great to look out at the lake. Location wise, its just close enough and just far enough. You’re out of the Bar Harbor craziness, but still only 20mins away if your plans involve it. We were there mostly to hike, and a lot of the trails we were planning on doing were mere minutes away. We also found some new ones we never would have known about otherwise! The location really is wonderful. We definitely want to come back!”
